1. Introduction

Welcome to PlayoffLabs (the “Service”). PlayoffLabs is an independent, fan-made esports competition and tournament simulation platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to Moonton, MPL, or any official esports league, team, player, or tournament organizer.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you access or interact with our platform. By accessing or using the Service, you understand that your data will be handled in accordance with this policy.

3. Information We Collect

We collect several categories of information depending on how you interact with the Service, whether as an anonymous visitor, a registered account user, a waitlist subscriber, or a voluntary supporter.

A. Account & Registration Data

If you create an account to save simulations, join prediction leagues, or sync progress:

  • Username or display name
  • Email address
  • Securely hashed passwords (for email/password registration)
  • Third-party authentication metadata (if you choose to sign in using social login providers)
  • Avatar or profile display image (if uploaded)

B. Usage & Technical Data

When you browse the website or run match simulations, our hosting and analytics tools collect:

  • Pages visited, feature interactions, and navigation flows
  • Match simulation settings, completed projections, and shared bracket results
  • Timestamps, browser client tags, screen resolutions, and device models
  • Approximate country-level location derived from IP addresses
  • IP addresses (collected temporarily in technical server logs for security and rate limiting)

C. Prediction & Community Data

If you participate in prediction leagues, matchups, or interactive features:

  • Submitted tournament predictions and bracket outcomes
  • Pick'em Room memberships, custom rules settings, and leaderboard results
  • Leaderboard usernames or nickname display flags

D. Waitlist Data

If you register for our closed beta waitlists (such as PlayoffLabs Bracket or Fantasy):

  • Email address
  • Nickname or username
  • Waitlist product interests (e.g. Bracket, Fantasy, or both)
  • Optional survey responses or platform preferences

E. Support & Supporter Hall of Fame Data

If you voluntarily support PlayoffLabs through donation platforms (such as Saweria):

  • Supporter display name or nickname
  • Support contribution tier and donation timestamp
  • Custom message or public supporter shoutout
  • Payment metadata (transaction IDs, contribution amount, currency, and verification status)
  • Founder status or badge eligibility metadata

Important Financial Note: PlayoffLabs does not collect or store credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or secure financial credentials. All financial processing is completed entirely by our third-party payment partner (Saweria). We only receive transaction confirmation metadata.

F. Analytics & Ad Identifiers

If ads are active, third-party advertising partners (Google AdSense) and analytics suites (Google Analytics, Umami) may assign cookie IDs or processing tokens to aggregate activity statistics.

4. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and session identifiers to operate and optimize the Service.

  • Essential Cookies: First-party session cookies are required to authenticate user accounts, secure backend communications, and maintain guest user simulation states.
  • Analytics Cookies: Set by Google Analytics and Umami to track anonymous user behavior trends. You can opt out via your browser settings.
  • Advertising Cookies: When Google AdSense is active, Google and its marketing partners use cookies to serve, limit, measure, and personalize advertisements. Learn more in Google’s Advertising Policies.
  • Local Storage: We use local storage on your device to remember user settings, language parameters, themes, and cookie banner acknowledgements.

You can adjust your browser settings to reject cookies or delete local storage. Please note that disabling essential cookies may prevent login states or guest progress saving from functioning properly.

5. How We Use Information

We process your data to perform the following core tasks:

  • Provide and run core simulation pages (Predict, Bracket, Fantasy, and Leaderboards)
  • Manage and verify user accounts and login sessions
  • Register waitlist applicants and send closed beta announcement updates
  • Verify voluntary donations, display supporter recognition, and manage the public Hall of Fame listings
  • Display, measure, and limit non-intrusive advertisements (Google AdSense)
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns (via Google Analytics and Umami) to diagnose bugs and improve performance
  • Monitor for abuse, spam, security threats, and fraudulent submissions
  • Comply with accounting, tax, or legal reporting obligations

7. Public Information

Certain features of PlayoffLabs are public by design. If you participate, the following details may be visible to other visitors:

  • Your username or custom display name on public leaderboards or prediction rooms
  • Your prediction room scores and standings
  • Supporter nickname, contribution tier, custom donation message, and timestamp on our public Hall of Fame
  • Public comments, feedback logs, or shared bracket URLs (if explicitly generated by you)

Warning: Please avoid submitting private, confidential, or sensitive personal information in public text fields.

8. Ads & Third-Party Advertising

We may display ads (including Google AdSense) on free areas of the website to help cover hosting, domain names, API expenses, and development maintenance.

Google and its partners serve these advertisements based on visits to this site or other destinations. You can manage ad settings or turn off personalized advertising via the Google Ad Settings page.

9. Analytics

We use analytics suites (Google Analytics and Umami) to monitor website performance, screen ratios, load times, and feature usage. This data is collected pseudonymously and analyzed in aggregated formats. It does not map private simulation settings back to your real-world identity.

10. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share data with trusted processors required to run the Service:

  • Hosting & Database Infrastructure: Cloud hosting and managed databases.
  • Authentication Providers: Social login and email auth APIs.
  • Analytics Partners: Google Analytics and Umami.
  • Ad Delivery Networks: Google AdSense.
  • Payment & Support APIs: Saweria.
  • Security & Monitoring: Logging, server firewalls, and spam prevention processors.

11. Payments & Voluntary Support

Voluntary support is entirely optional and serves to keep the simulation platform online. Payment transactions are processed by third-party processors. PlayoffLabs receives transaction metadata to assign Hall of Fame positions or supporter icons. Supporting PlayoffLabs does not offer competitive advantage, simulation influence, or gaming boosts.

12. Data Retention

We retain your information as follows:

  • Account Data: Retained for the lifetime of your account. You can request deletion anytime.
  • Supporter & Transaction Logs: Retained as needed to fulfill tax, accounting, and anti-fraud record requirements.
  • Public Hall of Fame Listing: Remained public indefinitely unless you request removal or name changes.
  • Temporary Security Logs: Network firewall and security access logs are rotated out automatically after a brief diagnostic period.

13. Security

We implement reasonable technical and administrative controls (such as HTTPS encryption, secure session tokens, and cryptographic password hashing) to protect user data. However, no system is entirely invulnerable, and we cannot guarantee 100% security of your information.

14. User Rights

You hold the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: You can request a summary of the personal data we hold about your account.
  • Correction: Request updates to inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete registration data.
  • Deletion: Request complete removal of your account, waitlist slots, or public supporter info.
  • Consent Withdrawal: Cancel waitlists or modify consent settings at any time.

To submit a privacy request, please contact us at the email listed below. We may require basic identity verification before processing requests.

15. Children’s Privacy

PlayoffLabs is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age threshold under local law). If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has submitted personal details, contact us for prompt deletion.

16. International Data Transfers

Our cloud databases, auth servers, and CDN endpoints may operate in countries other than your own. By using the platform, you acknowledge that your information may be processed and stored in these locations, under standard contractual safeguards.

18. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy. Any updates will be marked with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the website following policy adjustments represents acceptance of the updated terms.
